This Privacy Policy explains how Quantica Education, Inc. ("Quantica," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and learning platform (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
We collect only what we need to run the Service:
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do run two tools that go beyond counting visits, the Meta pixel and Microsoft Clarity. The Meta pixel tells Meta that a browser visited a page here, so we can advertise Quantica to people who have been to the site. California law counts that as sharing personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so we call it that here. Section 7 says what each tool does and where it runs, and section 6 says how to switch both of them off.
You have to be 13 or older to hold a Quantica account. That is a hard rule, not a formality. We do not open accounts for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13.
The lessons are written for roughly grades 5 to 12, so plenty of learners here are younger than 13. The way that works is simple. A parent or guardian holds the account in their own name and email address, and the child sits down and learns on it. The name, email address, and billing details we hold belong to the adult. We never ask the child for a name, an email address, an address, or a photo.
Progress data, such as which lessons are finished and which problems were answered correctly, is stored against the account and we treat it as the account holder's data. We do not ask for or knowingly collect anything that identifies the child.
The confirmation box at signup is our record that the person creating the account says they are 13 or older. It is not a way to consent on behalf of a younger account holder, because we do not permit account holders under 13 at all.
Milo, our tutor, is a chat box, and what is typed into it does not stay with us. Each message is sent to the outside services named in section 4 so a reply can be written, along with the lesson being worked on and the answers already tried. Please tell your learner not to type their name, school, address, or other personal details into it.
The free lesson pages a search engine can reach, the ones you can read without signing in, carry only Google Analytics. We deliberately keep the advertising and session-recording tools off those pages, because that is where a child is most likely to arrive on their own. Section 7 says exactly where each tool runs.
If we learn that an account holder is under 13, we will close the account and delete the personal information we hold for it. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, write to privacy@quanticaedu.com and we will delete it promptly. Parents can also write to us at any time to see or delete the data on their account.
We use a small number of outside services to run the platform and to understand how it is used.
Apart from the services listed above, we do not share your personal information with anyone.
We keep your account and progress data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete the personal information in our own systems within 30 days, except where we have to keep it for legal or financial reasons. Payment records, for example, may be kept for up to 7 years for tax purposes.
That 30 day commitment covers what we hold, which is your account record, your learning progress, and your billing record. It does not cover the analytics and advertising services named in sections 4 and 7. Their copy of the data sits in their systems on their own retention schedules, which we do not set and cannot override. We can stop sending them anything new, and turning on Global Privacy Control does that for the browser you turn it on in. When you ask us to delete your data, we will pass the request on to those services wherever they give us a way to do it, and we will point you to their own deletion tools for the rest.
You can see, correct, or delete your account information at any time by contacting us. California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we have collected, the right to have it corrected or deleted, and the right to opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. We do share information with Meta through the Meta pixel so we can advertise Quantica. California law counts that as sharing, and you can opt out of it.
Our opt-out is Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we check for it on every page load and we do not load the Meta pixel or Microsoft Clarity on that visit. Google Analytics still runs, because we configure it with Google Signals and ad personalization turned off and we do not use it to build advertising audiences. Global Privacy Control is a recognized opt-out signal under California law. Some browsers, including Firefox, Brave, and DuckDuckGo, have the setting built in, and there are free extensions for the rest. It applies to every site you visit, not just ours.
There are two limits worth knowing about. Global Privacy Control is set per browser and per device, so a phone and a laptop each need it turned on. It also applies from the moment we see it, so it cannot pull back data that was already shared. If you would rather ask a person, email privacy@quanticaedu.com and ask us to stop sharing, and we will handle it by hand.
We do not act on Do Not Track. It is an older browser signal that was never given an agreed meaning, so we do not rely on it.
We will not charge you more, give you less, or treat you differently for opting out.
If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, correct, or erase your data, and the right to data portability. We do not load the Meta pixel or Microsoft Clarity for visitors in Europe or the United Kingdom at all, because those tools need prior consent there and we do not run a consent banner. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@quanticaedu.com.
We use browser local storage to remember your sign-in and your learning progress between visits. Three outside tools also run on our pages and set cookies or identifiers of their own. This list is all of them, and since we do not use a cookie banner, a fourth tool would go on this list before it went on the site.
Session recording sounds worse than it is, so here is the literal version. Clarity notes where the pointer moved, what was clicked or tapped, how far the page scrolled, and how the page was laid out, then replays that to us as a silent reconstruction of the page. It is not a video of you. There is no camera, no microphone, no recording of your screen, and nothing from your other tabs. We run Clarity with text masking on, so what you type into a form is not captured, and password and payment fields are never recorded.
The free lesson pages that search engines index carry Google Analytics and nothing else. Neither the Meta pixel nor Clarity loads there. Those pages are the ones a young learner is most likely to reach without an adult, so we keep the advertising and recording tools off them deliberately.
Two of the notes above say that the advertising and recording tools do not see your conversations with Milo. That is true, and it is not the whole picture. Milo is answered by outside services, so the messages do leave our site, just not to those tools. Sections 1 and 4 say what is sent and who handles it.
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, neither the Meta pixel nor Clarity loads at all and only Google Analytics runs. The same is true for visitors in Europe and the United Kingdom. Section 6 explains that opt-out in full.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using HTTPS for all data transmission and relying on Firebase's built-in security features. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the protection of your data seriously.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify registered users by email and post an updated version here with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
